Police: Student charged with threats
A Penn State student charged with terroristic threats after police say he threatened and assaulted a South Halls Residence Life coordinator with a pellet gun was bound over for trial Wednesday morning at his preliminary hearing.
Penn State Police said Christopher James Steliga, 18, of Marlton, N.J., was “physically menacing and threatening” and assaulted the coordinator at 10:55 p.m. Nov. 8 in McElwain Hall. Steliga had consumed alcohol, police said.
Steliga is also being charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and liquor law violation in connection with the incident, according to court documents.

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
