Tussey Tussles with Al Gore
Tussey Mountain opened today, it’s earliest opening in 10 years, says the Centre Daily Times. I guess they haven’t heard about global warming yet. Or I just don’t understand it.
“Well we started making snow last weekend and that was the earliest we’ve made snow in 10 years,” said Aaron Weyman, director of sales for the ticket office at Tussey Mountain Ski Lodge. “And we got some from the sky,” Weyman said. “So, we made the decision to open.”
Tussey’s website says that it will be open next weeekend from 9:00 to 5:00. Other than Tussey, the nearest mountain is Ski Roundtop, which is about two hours away in Lewisberry.
Our best advice is to get involved with the ski club. As of this morning, they still had one spot open for their Killington trip. Email them if you’re interested. The cost is $245 all inclusive for two days of skiing.

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
