Penn State Reacts to Gaza Crisis
The Collegian ran an article this morning about the situation in Gaza, and reactions to the crisis by Hillel and Students for Justice in Palestine. No Letters to the Editor have been run yet regarding the crisis, but if this fall is any indication, I think we can expect some either tomorrow or later this week.
The most insightful comment in the article came from Alex Bolotovsky, the former president of Penn State Hillel.
“Do your own research about the conflict. Take everything with a grain of salt. Take whatever I say with a grain of salt and whatever everyone else says also.”
Students for Justice in Palestine is planning a rally for this Wednesday by the Allen Street gates. There is a Facebook event page set up already. We’ll get pictures of it when it happens.

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
