Will CEOs Get Paid Less Than Spanier?
President Obama has stated that compensation for executives at companies receiving stimulus, or bail-out, money will be capped at $500,000.
Businesses aren’t the only ones receiving funds from the government in this stimulus package, so are universities; Graham Spanier, as of 2006, has a yearly salary of $545,016.
Obama’s mandate does not affect university administrators, however it will be intersting to see if Graham gets paid more than the Detroit CEOs or the Wall Street captains next year or if he gets a pay-cut?

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
