Poor Chemistry! Drunken Joyride Ends Badly.

chemistry01If any of you have walked up Shortlidge Rd between the Chemistry and Life Sciences buildings, no doubt you have seen the damage. The lobby of the Chemistry Building was subject to a rude hit and run crash by a vehicle around 1 AM on Sunday morning. After smashing two exterior windows with his car, 21 year old Keith Kripp was pulled over on the corner of Burrowes and Pollack Rds and admitted to driving under the influence.

The Collegian reports:

Kripp was given a preliminary breath test, which revealed he had 0.241 percent blood alcohol content, police said. The legal limit to drive in Pennsylvania is 0.08.

Kripp was charged with driving under the influence, damage to attended vehicle or property, risking catastrophe, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, according to the complaint.

What does “risking catastrophe” mean, by the way? Regardless, wooden boards have temporarily replaced the shattered lobby windows. Damage is estimated at $20,000, and I’m sure he had a hell of a headache after he woke up.

Hopefully the damage is fixed soon. I really like that building.

Senior Writes Final Column

Senior columns, with all their melodrama and platitudes, usually leave me eye-rolling and shaking my head with a vigor usually reserved for study abroad blog posts. But, as I graduate a week from today, I figured I should give it a go myself. Rather than discuss the origins of Onward State like Evan,  I’d just like to briefly thank a few individuals who have defined my Penn State experience.
