In this odd time of year, where it’s not quite football season but things are being set in motion (Blue White is in 9 days, after all), it’s always nice to get a significant piece of football news that isn’t a practice injury.

Old rivals Penn State and Rutgers will renew their football series in 2014 and 2015, Tim Curley, Penn State director of athletics, announced today.

The teams are scheduled to meet Sept. 13, 2014 at Rutgers and Sept. 12, 2015 in Beaver Stadium.

I know no one really says “You know who needs to be taught a lesson? Those damn Rutgers fans!” But it’s nice to see the team will be playing at least somewhat decent non-conference competition in the next few years – the Scarlet Knights have made four consecutive bowl appearances.  Between this and the upcoming series against the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2010 and 2011, things are looking up for Penn State’s strength of schedule. Or were you happy with shellacking Syracuse?
