Tickets 2k9: The Death of Scalpers

student-centralEarlier today, an email went out to all Penn State students regarding purchasing football tickets for next Fall. They have decided to move away from informing via email and are now using a fancy new site to distribute information about dates, etc. With this new site comes a new way that tickets will be handled.

TICKET RESALE POLICY
4. The season ticket process is intended solely for Penn State students who plan to attend the scheduled games and support the Nittany Lions. There will be no student coupons mailed for the 2009 Nittany Lion Football Season. All tickets will be on the Penn State student issued ID card which must be swiped upon entry to the stadium. Information on how to sell individual game student tickets will be posted on “Student Central” on August 4, 2009.

It looks like you will no longer be able to buy season tickets for about $200 only to sell each ticket for twice (or more) its street value. You will still be able to sell the tickets back to the University at face value, but more details on that will come later.

The dates for student sales were also revealed. It will be each day from June 22 to June 26, going in order of Seniors (6/22), Juniors (6/23), Sophomores (6/24), Freshmen (6/25), and finally Grad Students (6/26). Ticket sale times were not yet revealed.

RIP Student Ticket Scalpers and student coupons. Goodnight, sweet prince. You will be missed – or will you? Let us know what you think!
