Paper Trail Writer Leaving U.S. News
Alison Go, the blogger behind U.S. News & World Report’s Paper Trail Blog, broke our hearts a little this evening.
She had this to say,
It’s been a fun two years, but it’s now time for me to leave Paper Trail and U.S. News. I’ll honestly miss reading and writing about the dumb (and impressive) things college kids do, but at the very least, I got to cover this:
She’s referring to none other than our own ‘Green Man Goes to Class’ video.
We’re going to miss Alison for two reasons. She and her blog have been good for Onward State– her recognition of our site in the annual Best Alternative Media Outlet competition led to two Collegian articles and, oh yeah, a win— and the Paper Trail Blog was a well-written and authentic look at college life. You go Go!*

To paraphrase Mark Twain: The reports of higher education’s death have been an exaggeration. American universities produce more research and relevant knowledge for the world at large than any other institutions I know of. Tuition may be too damn high, but over the long-run, undergraduate degrees are definitely worth the cost. But Penn State could be so much more. It used to be, I think.
