PSU Students Make it to Finals in Obama’s Health Care Video Challenge

Recently, three humble PSU freshmen were assigned to put a video together for their honors English class. The topic: health care reform. And guess what? The trio – comprised of Steve Patrick of New Cumberland, Josie Farinelli of New Kensington, and Ryan Kramer of Maryland – made it to the finals of the Barack Obama Health Reform Video Challenge!

Their thirty-second video took a very rare approach to spreading the word of health care reform by focusing on college students – a demographic not many associate with the problem. “This is the system that we’ll be living with for the rest of our lives, and I think it’s really important that we are active in molding the world that we’re going to live in tomorrow,” Steven Patrick said.

Now they need us, their peers and fellow future-health-care-users to vote for their video as the best before November 6th so they can make it to the top 20 and eventually, hopefully national television. Regardless of your feelings toward Barry O or the Democratic Party, I’m sure you’re a fan of Penn State and wouldn’t mind helping some fellow Nittany Lions out. So vote!

Kiwi Fro-Yo Comes to Penn State

The Kiwi Yogurt chain is opening its newest store right here in State College, next to the Student Book Store at 324 E. College Ave, this February (no word yet on exact date). Kiwi is a Maine Line, Pa.-based, family-owned company founded in 2008 set on providing “the ultimate dessert experience.”

And it is quite the experience. When you walk in, there is – prepare yourselves – a wall of frozen yogurt options. You get to walk up to this beautiful wall and vend yourself as many flavors as you like.
