Around the World in One Week

globeWish you were somewhere else? Well here’s a great opportunity to make it happen. This Monday marks the beginning of International Education Week.

The U.S. Departments of State and Education first commissioned this special week ten years ago, and over 100 other nations now celebrate with us. The goal of the event is to extend global perspectives to students from all areas of the world, including Penn Staters.

Here are some major events going down on campus this week:

Turkish Fusion MusicMonday: 12pm – 1pm, HUB ground floor.

International Student Panel DiscussionTuesday: 1pm – 3pm, 410 Boucke Building.

Paving the Way: Financial Aid and Study AbroadTuesday: 5pm – 6pm, 410 Boucke Building.

Belly Dance Club and Penn State International Dance EnsembleWednesday: 11:30am – 12:30pm, HUB ground floor.

International Opportunities FairWednesday: 1pm – 4pm, HUB Heritage Hall.

Globalization Teach-In: A Tragedy of ErrorsWednesday: 6:30pm, 105 Forum.

Found in Translation: World Poetry Read by World PeopleThursday: 7pm – 8:30pm, Irvings.

Fundraiser Benefits Indian Orphans

Interested in food, music, and a good cause? Come to the HOINA Spaghetti Dinner tomorrow evening to satisfy these three interests and more.


The price of $7 includes dinner, dessert, and live instrumental music, ranging from a viola quartet to traditional Indian kirtans.


Homes of the Indian Nation (HOINA) is a nonprofit organization which runs an orphanage and school in Andhra Pradesh, India. All proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit the orphans themselves.
