Did you know that there are over 4,000 international students currently enrolled at Penn State? Amazingly, there are also about 200,400 international students currently enrolled in universities across America today. These students play a major roll in today’s economy.

Annually, NAFSA: Association of International Educators calculates the economic impact of international students and their dependents on the U.S. economy. During the 2008-2009 academic year, NAFSA estimates that they contributed approximately $17.6 billion to the U.S. economy.

Pennsylvania received a total of $820,341,000 from foreign students and their families.

Where does PSU fall into this? In total, international students and their families have contributed $100,607,600  in the 2008-2009 academic year. [Editor’s Note: Thank you to a commenter for making us aware of a typo]

That’s a lot of money… maybe there is some hope for our economy!
