AEPi Expelled From IFC For 2 Years

Last night, the Interfraternity Council voted unanimously to expel the Pi Deuteron chapter Alpha Epsilon Pi for a minimum of 2 years due to hazing. Allegations regarding hazing appeared in a State College Police report, which stated that, on February 11th of this year, AEPi forced their pledges to drink hard liquor and beer to the point that two had to be taken to Mt. Nittany Medical Center with acute alcohol poisoning.

“Once we confirmed the accuracy the police report, the case was pretty cut and dry,” said IFC President Max Wendkos. “Hopefully we’re sending a pretty strong message here to our remaining 48 Chapters.”

Expulsion means that AEPi cannot participate in any of the activities entitled to IFC organizations. Thus, members will not be permitted to participate in recruitment, intramural athletics, Greek Week, Greek Sing, Homecoming, THON, or any other organized activity as Alpha Epsilon Pi.

It is unclear as to what will happen to the former fraternity’s house on 240 E. Prospect Avenue. State College zoning laws require that organizations occupying fraternity-zoned buildings be members of a “University recognized fraternity or sorority.”

This isn’t AEPi’s first run-in with hazing allegations. IFC had suspended AEPi for Fall recruitment due to allegations of hazing; however, those allegations were never substantiated.

Three Words: For the Glory

When I sat back one night in January thinking about my time at Penn State, I tried to come up with a single word that would adequately describe my experiences here. As I attempted to determine what that magic word might be, my mind began to grasp the absurdity of that challenge. How could I possibly distill four years of my life, countless friendships, and untold numbers of memories, down to a single word? An impossible task to be sure. So instead, I took the easier road and went with three words: For the Glory.
