Penn State Wrestling Schedule Released

With one very successful year under his belt, Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson and Lions wrestling team will be looking to build upon that success this upcoming winter. He now knows the competition standing in the team’s way as the 2010-2011 schedule was released last week.

Fans will have 8 chances to see the Lion grapplers compete in Rec Hall this year with dual meets against teams such as Lock Haven, Ohio State and Wisconsin along with hosting the Nittany Lion Open which takes place on Sunday, Dec. 5. The Lions also will head to New York, North Carolina and Virginia for tournaments throughout the year.

The season concludes with the Big Ten tournament, hosted by Purdue this year, and the NCAA Championships following two weeks after, only a stone’s throw away at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia.

While I cannot admit to being a huge wrestling fan, even I can see the vast improvement of the team since Sanderson took over the reins of the team last year. With 2 straight strong recruiting classes having been brought in, expect even more individual and team awards cluttering the Rec Hall trophy cases come springtime.
