The Paternoville Resort

Hey Paternoville campers! That comfortable pad of concrete you all sleep on just got a little more cozy. Construction crews have been hard at work tearing down the former Gate A in order to rebuild a more crowd-friendly entry gate in time for the September 4 kickoff versus Youngstown State.

Penn State students bought more season tickets in 2010 than any other school in the nation, so crowd flow and safety is a major concern.  Part of a three-year project, Gate A will be remodeled to allow a greater number of individual entry gates and ticket kiosks, along with professional landscape details to top it off.

“This year, we will have more entranceways into the stairwell that will help the flow,” Mark Bodenschatz, the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations told GoPSUSports.com. “We are going to bring back grass and trees. General Beaver’s Stone will be where it has always been. In addition to the crowd flow improvements, the changes will bring back some more aesthetic aspects to the landscape.”

For campers, as long as there is a flat area to pitch a tent this fall, the landscape might not be a priorty.  However, a Big Ten championship for Beaver Stadium’s 50th Anniversary certainly is.

Wrestlers Rebound with a Sweep in Michigan

Well that’s more like it. After getting trounced by Iowa last weekend, which snapped a 13-match winning streak, the Nittany Lion wrestlers rallied back with two convincing victories over Michigan State and Michigan this weekend. The first stop of the road trip was in Lansing Friday night where they mauled the Spartans 30-9. Then they headed back to Ann Arbor for a 28-13 beating of the Wolverines.
