Field Hockey Falls Against UConn
The Penn State field hockey team gave fifth-ranked Connecticut all they could handle on Friday, but came up short with a 2-1 loss.
UConn had the advantage early on, peppering Penn State’s goal with 11 first-half shots. The teams went into the half scoreless, though, mainly due to redshirt sophomore, Ayla Halus, making 10 saves .
All three goals came in quick succession in the second half. UConn scored first at 47:34, with the Nittany Lions tying it up at 50:11 with a goal from junior Jessica Longstreth. However, UConn scored only 16 seconds later and won the game 2-1.
Penn State fell to 1-2 with the loss and will look to improve their record with two home games next week.

In the end, the Conecticut women’s basketball team was just too talented. The Lady Lions fought until the final whistle, but it was not enough to even come close. The Huskies dominated for almost the entire 40 minutes in a 77-59 victory, knocking Penn State out of the NCAA Tournament.
