Field Hockey Gets Big Win at Michigan State

The #16 nationally ranked Penn State Field Hockey team got a huge win this past week at they defeated #7 Michigan State on the road Friday night 4-1.

Kelsey Amy was once again an offensive force for the Lions as she put in two goals to lead the offensive attack, including knocking in a goal in the first minute of action. Daneen Zug and Hannah Allison also scored goals for Penn State to help them take down the defending Big Ten champions.

Penn State’s offense was balanced out with strong defense and work by goalie Ayla Halus. The Spartans held both a 16-10 lead in shot attempts and a 10-5 edge in penalty corners. Despite having a strong margin in both categories they were unable to put in more than one goal on Halus and the defense.

The Lions have improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in Big Ten play.

Oct. 17- at Ohio State at 1 p.m.

Oct. 19- home vs. Bucknell at 7 p.m.
