CATA Manager Gets Recognized

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Self, I do believe that the CATA system is the most efficiently run in the country”? If you have, you’re not alone. The American Public Transportation Association seems to think so too, as they awarded CATA manager Hugh Mose their Outstanding Public Transportation Manager Award.

“Yo Mr. Mose, I’m really happy for you, ima let you finish, but Dr. Beverly Scott of the Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority runs one of the best systems of all time!”

Thanks, Kanye.

Mose was beside himself at the news, proclaiming that “to get this kind of recognition is the high point of my career.” That’s all nice and dandy, but what do we as riders of the CATA system think? Has CATA been run as the most efficient bus system in the country? While we don’t necessarily have anything to compare our public transportation to, what have we seen in the past year?

To be fair, we have also seen the introduction of the CATA iPhone app and CATA’s realtime status website, both of which are extremely helpful if you’re trying to get home and don’t want to stand in the cold for 20 minutes. What do you think? How efficient is CATA, and how worthy is Hugh Mose of this award?

Some fun awards people really didn’t deserve to win:

  • 1938 – Hitler is awarded Time’s Man of the Year
  • 2010 – BP is announced as a finalist for the U.S. Department of Interior Pollution Prevention Award

The Future of Footwear Comes to Penn State

A new fad has hit Penn State, one that threatens to be greater than Pogs, Pokemon, and Yo-yos combined. They make you feel like Buzz Aldrin, and make Sketchers’ ShapeUps look conservative.  I’m referring, of course, to Kangoo Jumps (KJs). Already rumored to be featured on the Richard Simmons comeback exercise video (full disclosure: the author started this rumor…right now), Kangoo Jumps are taking State College by storm, in all their goofy glory.
