The Lady Lions field hockey team followed a 3-0 loss at Ohio State over the weekend with a bounce back 4-1 win over Bucknell at home on Tuesday. The two games’ results put the team’s record at 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big 10.

The #11 ranked Nittany Lions fell to the #6 Buckeyes due to a strong pressure put on their defense for the entire game. Ohio State finished with 16 shots on goal and 7 corners. The Lions fell behind early when they gave up a goal to Ohio State standout Aisling Coyle in the first 2 minutes of play, and were unable to recover.

Despite the loss over the weekend, the team was able to come back strong and play well to get a win over Bucknell. Jessica Longstreth came out firing, led the team with 2 goals, and was helped offensively by Jenny Purvis, who finished with 3 points for the game.

Their offensive attack was helped by a dominating defense which held Bucknell without even a shot on goal in the first 35 minutes of action. Bucknell finished the game with only 5 shots on goal, as opposed to 13 by the home team.

The Lions will stay at home this weekend for two out of conference games that finish their home stand for the season, playing Duke on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday.
