Field Hockey Keeps on Rolling

The field hockey team kept on rolling last weekend, getting two straight wins over Duke and Princeton.

The #11 ranked Lions knocked off the #17 ranked Duke Blue Devils 2-1 this past Saturday. Despite Penn State havingĀ  two players down for five minutes in the second half, they were able to clamp down on defense for the win. The Blue Devils held an 8-3 edge in penalty corners and had at least a one person advantage for 15 minutes of action, but they were only able to muster one goal. Jenny and Lauren Purvis led the offensive attack for the home team, each scoring goals to secure the win for Penn State.

Penn State’s defense continued to shine Sunday as the they defeated a #5 ranked Princeton squad. Ayla Halus led another strong defensive attack with four saves for her fifth shutout of the season. The offensive picked it up, and Jessica Longstreth knocked in a goal to secure the win for the Lions. The win brings Penn State to 12-4 for the season.

Penn State will finish their regular season schedule Friday on the road against Northwestern before the Big Ten tournament begins Nov. 4.

Upcoming Schedule:

Oct. 29 at Northwestern at 4 p.m.
