5 Songs for the Weekend

There’s been a lull in the music scene since all the summer music hits got overplayed or died out. It’s officially autumn now, and the fall rush for soon-to-be released albums has begun. As November rolls in, the albums that will rock your winter will be dropping and new music will grace all of our ears.

1. Kanye West – Don’t Look Down
Kanye’s G.O.O.D Fridays have been lacking in the past few weeks, but the newest track, “Don’t Look Down,” is an upbeat change from what we’ve become accustomed to from this album. When Kanye started releasing tracks, he told fans it would prepare them for his new album, but most of the tracks he released will actually be on it. Either way, this track featuring Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco and Big Sean isn’t one to overlook. What we will do once the album is released, I don’t know, but fans can be assured Kanye is definitely back.

2. Nicki Minaj – Right Through Me
As the newest single from Barbie-wannabe Nicki Minaj, this song shows off the voice that Ms. Minaj seemed to lack. This isn’t the typical rap guest spot she usually does, but a more Rihanna-esque song that is bound to rocket up the radio charts. The song is about Nicki’s major trust issues and lack of faith in men, but I don’t think she’s going to have any trouble finding guys after this sexy and provocative song goes mainstream.

3.Waka Flocka Flame – No Hands
This song has been out for almost two months now, but there is no denying that Waka Flocka is a budding rap star. This single has been creeping up the charts on iTunes, making a name for itself. “No Hands” features both Roscoe Dash and Wale, making this song a perfect club and dance song. The chorus is catchy, the beats are raw and, don’t forget, Flocka is covered in more tats than Weezy could ever imagine.

4. Senses Fail – The Fire
There is nothing better to pump up your Halloween weekend than a little screamo. New Jersey-native Senses Fail has released a new album that is ten times better than their last two albums combined. This song is a long-awaited step up from “Let in Enfold You,” their debut album. “The Fire” opens the album with the right feel and balance that Senses Fail creates between singing and screaming.

5. The Monster Mash
Some may not consider this a good song, but it’s flippin’ Halloween so show some spirit. When it comes to the epitome of Halloween songs, this is the one and only track that ever comes to mind. No matter if it’s the original version or some dub-stepped, grimey version, it’s all the same love for the holiday.
