Cross Country on to Nationals

Both Penn State men’s and women’s cross country teams have moved on the NCAA National Championships.

The two squads received at-large bids to the meet after running well at the Mid-Atlantic Regional this past weekend. The teams are beginning to make it a trend as the women will be going for the second straight year, and the men will be making their second appearance in the last three years.

The 28th ranked Lady Lions ran great at the Regional, even upsetting a 19th ranked Princeton squad to finish 3rd overall in the team standings.

Junior Catlin Lane led a strong and balanced pack for the women with a 12th place showing to earn All-Region Honors. She was followed by four other Lions in the top 25. Kara Millhouse, Natalie Bower, and Maura Ryan finishing 20th, 21st and 22nd in a line with Brooklyne Ridder rounding out the top 5 in 25th.

The men, on the other hand, were propelled to a 4th place team showing by two elite runners up front. The Junior duo of Kyle Dawson and Vince McNally finished 2nd and 3rd respectively to help pace the Lions. Dawson earned his second All-Region performance, with McNally earning his third straight regional honor.

The team is off until the NCAA Championships, which are November 22nd at Indiana State University. The women will start at 12:08 p.m., with the men going off at 12:48 p.m.

Full results for the regional can be found here for the men, and here for the women.
