The Penn State men’s soccer team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as the 15-seed. Getting a seed means that the Nittany Lions get a bye into the second round, where they will host the winner of Virginia and Old Dominion on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Even with the bye, Penn State were handed a tough draw. Reigning NCAA Champions Virginia, the favorite to beat Old Dominion, finished the season at 11-5-3, with all five of their losses coming against tough ACC competition. If Penn State were to advance to the third round, they would most likely meet up with second-seeded Maryland. Maryland is 17-2-1 and won the ACC Championship this year. They also knocked Penn State out of the tournament last year with a 2-1 win at Jeffrey Field.

In all, five Big Ten teams made the tournament this year. Joining the Nittany Lions are Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State and Michigan State. The tournament field was released on Monday afternoon.
