Penn State men’s soccer player Corey Hertzog was selected by the New York Red Bulls on Thursday with the 13th pick in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.

“It’s a dream come true,” Hertzog said. “New York has a new stadium and incredible fan support, so it will be a great environment.”

Hertzog led the nation last year in scoring, netting 20 goals. He decided to forgo his senior season and signed a Generation Adidas contract in order to enter the MLS SuperDraft. Generation Adidas is a program that aims to promote youth soccer in the United States by helping younger players enter MLS.

Matheus Braga, a Penn State senior that led the team in assists last season, was not drafted. He will have another chance to get picked in the MLS Supplemental Draft held next Tuesday.
