Blue-White Weekend Set For April 15th-17th

Get that tailgating gear dusted off because Penn State Athletics has announced that Blue-White Weekend is set for April 15th-17th this year. While fun and festivities last throughout the entire weekend, the Blue-White spring football game, the weekend’s main attraction, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 16th at 2:00 p.m.

This year, the carnival outside of Beaver Stadium will last until Sunday afternoon (a change from past years) and the Second Beaver Stadium 5K Run/Family Fun Walk to benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania will start at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning as well. In addition to the football game, the baseball, women’s tennis and men’s and women’s lacrosse teams will also be competing during the weekend.

While last year’s game was expected to be the beginning of the Kevin Newsome era at quarterback, this year’s game will kick off the Matt McGloin-Rob Bolden quarterback competition which will get fierce throughout spring and summer practices. It will also be Silas Redd’s time to shine as he is poised to become the feature back in the Nittany Lion offense.

Last year’s attendance was only 55,000 as rain and colder temperatures kept fans away from the stadium. Let’s hope that this year’s game isn’t a washout for one big hoo-rah before summer break!
