Music Mondays: Post-Bowl Playlist

Now that the weekend is over and we can finally stop hearing stupid Steelers chants, we need some new music to play on our way to class. Here are this week’s (late) selections for Music Mondays Tuesdays to rock you through the pre-THON weekend.

1. Afrojack feat. Eva Simmons- “Take Over Control”
Right now, no matter what country you live in, if you haven’t already heard this song, you need to listen immediately. Afrojack is a “Dirty Dutch” DJ, hailing from the Netherlands who was named one of the top 20 DJ’s of 2010. The song has already hit number one of the US Billboard Dance Charts and is bound to be remixed and rapped over in the future.

2. Lil’ Wayne-“Green and Yellow”
Of course this song made the list. I mean, what’s better than not only trashing the Steelers but ragging on Wiz at the same time? This remix of “Black and Yellow” become an immediate hit when it dropped before the Superbowl and then transpired into an anthem blasted off balconies when the Packers got that last interception. You have at least a week to play this song and piss off your roommates; so go ahead.

3. LCD Soundsystem-“Daft Punk is Playing at My House”
This is an older song from one of the most energetic live bands. But recently, they announced that they would soon be retiring and playing their last show or a “funeral” as they call it. There is some rumor as to what they mean by retiring, since they said they are still going to play, but won’t be making new music. This song is the perfect playlist track if you’re looking for one of their songs that’s a little less subtle as “Drunk Girls.”

4. David Guetta feat. Rihanna- “Who’s that Chick?”
This track hasn’t really made it to the radio or clubs here quite yet, but this is his newest track from Guetta’s upcoming remix release called “One More Love.” Already peaking at number one for the UK Dance Charts, this track is climbing in the same direction in the US. This is the perfect jam to bump in the car or watch any of the three music videos made from this song.

5. Dr. Dre feat. Eminem and Skylar Grey-“I Need a Doctor”
As songs slowly start to drop from Dre’s un-retirement album, fans are rejoicing. First he released his pro-cannabis song “Kush” with Snoop Dogg and Akon. Now he’s dropping tracks with Em again. The song also features the beautiful voice of Skylar Grey who has appeared on Diddy’s new track “Coming Home,” which was co-written with Jay-Z. Now that Em is back on his game and Dre is back from dead, maybe this will be the year for rap.
