The Machine Mesmerizes the State Theatre

The State Theatre was rocking to the songs of Pink Floyd Friday night.

The Machine, a Pink Floyd cover band, surprised audience members with incredibly accurate renditions of the prog rock band’s music. Not only did the band play famous hits like “Breathe” and “Time,” but they also chose obscure, less popular songs to put on their set list such as “Interstellar Overdrive” and “Mother.”

The packed house was not only stimulated in an auditory way with the sick reverb of drums, guitar, and vocals, but the visual entertainment was also surreal. Red and green lasers streamed all over the theatre, and strobe lights and various light patterns were recurring all over the place. The band also interacted with the crowd, provoking them to scream and shout whenever they damn well pleased.

The audience was wound up when their favorite song was played and was dead silent when the music became so captivating and coincided with the dancing lights.  It was truly one of the finest spectacles in cover band history.
