UPAC Approves Policy Changes

Last night, the University Park Allocation Committee voted to amend their policy handbook twice.

First, UPAC approved a proposal that will allow the committee to reimburse miles a student organization would accumulate for a travel request. This would apply if a rental company does not already provide mileage reimbursements, such as U-HAUL.

Second, the committee signed off on a new policy that would grant UPAC the ability to strip a student organization of Standing Allocation status. (Groups with Standing Allocation status serve a campus-wide need and include Homecoming, SPA and Movin’ On.) An organization could lose Standing Allocation status if it submits a written statement to the UPAC chair before December 1, and the removal would take effect the following year. In addition, the committee could strip Standing Allocation status if the organization 1) violates UPAC policy, 2) fails to execute its mission, 3) fails to submit a timely budget, or 4) no longer fulfills a campus-wide need. Two-thirds of the committee must vote in favor of removing Standing Allocation status. An organization can petition to regain this status the following academic year.
