Valley Magazine Fashion Show Part Duex

Valley Magazine has done it again, and with a better venue. Compared to the cramped conditions of Campus Candy last year Valley Magazine’s The Walk  2012 Spring Fashion Show was held in the newest addition to the State College downtown night scene, Levels, as it allowed 18 and older to attend, with 21 and older to drink. To my surprise, this year’s spring line seemed to consist of more local stores. Here’s the list:

  • Flesh Decor
  • Dwellings
  • Harper’s Shop for Men
  • Old State Clothing Co.
  • The Family Clothesline
  • Got Used Bookstore
  • Mr. Charles
  • Connections
  • Rag & Bone
  • Lions Pride
  • The Student Bookstore

Naturally, I assumed this show would consist all of female models. As I patiently awaited the parade of girls on girls on girls through the fog machines and lazer light display that choked and blinded while stomping their stilettos to the beat Level’s house music, I was shocked when the first male model confidently strolled down the aisle. My initial thought when I saw him was “dammnnn” and I’m not referring to his outfit. Apparently every other girl in the club had the same thought as they gazed in awe with their boyfriends standing by their sides.

Besides the new addition of more diverse models, this fashion show outdid last year. Maybe it was because Valley decided to branch out into the more affordable domains? Maybe because there was finally eye candy for girls like me other than sugary sweets held in glass display cases along the walls? No. It was because Valley had the attitude of a Penn State student being interviewed by a recruiter; decked out in plain black and white business wear but still being able to belt out “We Are…” with pride to show the recruiters where the hell we came from. Damnnnn!
