Weather World Meteorologists Earn Emmy Nomination

Jon Nese and Marisa Ferger are two members of the Penn State Meteorology Department who work with the show “Weather World. Their segment, WeatherWhys, was recently nominated for an Emmy by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

WeatherWhys is an educational series which focuses on timely topics dealing with weather, astronomy and environmental issues. “Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of Chernobyl,” “Lightning and College Football” and “The Story of Leap Year” were the three segments included in their Emmy-nominated submission.

This is not the first Emmy nomination for the two. Back in 2010, Nese and Ferger received a nomination for “St. Patrick’s Day 1936 – A Taxing Flood,” a piece that focused on the Johnstown Flood of 1936.

The Mid-Atlantic Emmy winners will be announced September 22, at a gala in Philadelphia.
