WWE Raw World Tour Visits the Jordan Center

Fake is always better. That’s what I determined after attending WWE Raw at the BJC on Friday night.

It always bothered me that the WWE wasn’t a real competition. I believed that fake fighting was dumb. I thought real was always better. But after attending WWE Raw on Friday night, I realized how wrong I was.

Big hits. Ferocious tackles. It was like a Penn State football game, except the outcome is already determined (maybe more like an Alabama football game). The crowd at the BJC was rocking all night long with USA chants filling the arena.  And really, what could be more American than the WWE?

Men and women, young and old came out to see their favorite wrestlers compete at center stage.  Not everybody got along, however. When an older man yelled, “You suck” at one of the wrestlers, a child a few seats away snapped back, shouting, “He’s awesome, for your information!”

The WWE made sure to satisfy all the men in attendance by sending out two women wrestlers, Layla and Aksana. And let me tell you, they put on one hell of a performance. Wearing little to nothing, they proved once and for all that “fake” is always better.

The main event featured CM Punk and The Big Show. In a controversial finish, CM Punk took home the WWE championship belt, much to the dismay of the crowd. But on this night, we were all CM Punk fans, as the wrestler lay there unmoving after the fight. He was eventually dragged out of the ring.  Doctors say his injury is fake and therefore not serious.

All in all, it was a fun night for everyone in attendance. The WWE may be fake, but it’s still real to me, dammit!
