Surprise! Pennsylvanians Unhappy With How Governor Corbett Handled Sandusky Scandal

A recent poll conducted by the Franklin & Marshall College’s Center for Opinion Research indicates that Pennsylvanians are unhappy with how Governor Tom Corbett handled the Jerry Sandusky case when he was Attorney General, a revelation that should surprise no one.

The poll asks Pennsylvanians a number of questions relating to Jerry Sandusky and the Penn State situation as a whole. For instance, 95 percent of the respondents said that they have read, seen, or heard either “a great deal” or a “fair amount” about the Sandusky case.

The most interesting statistic is that 39 percent of respondents say that Corbett did a poor job in handling the Sandusky case when he was Attorney General. Only 15 percent said he did a “good” job, and only 2 percent said he did an “excellent” job. On a semi-related note, only 4 percent of respondents think that Governor Corbett is doing an “excellent” job at being governor. There’s one in every group, I suppose.

Additionally, 54 percent of the Pennsylvania residents polled believe that the NCAA sanctions were unfair, with 14 percent responding that they believe the sanctions were very fair.

The full poll results can be found here. Scroll down to page 16 for the Penn State related responses.

Hometown Brewery Releases Beer Honoring Evan Pugh

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
