BJC Forced to Postpone Three Shows This Semester

The Bryce Jordan Center is always the venue that people think of when they hear of a big act coming through Happy Valley. Unfortunately, three acts have been forced to reschedule within the past month, each with their own personal reasons.

It all started on September 27th when Tiësto announced that he had to cancel his October tour dates due to a back injury. Tiësto will start touring again this Friday and has rescheduled his Penn State show for February 26th.

Then came a Monday Mayhem Shit Storm for Penn State music fans when two shows were postponed on the same day. At 10 a.m., Green Day published a press release that said the band would cancel the remainder of its 2012 shows and postpone their 2013 dates. The reason for this stems from lead singer, Billy Joe Armstrong, seeking substance abuse treatment after a meltdown at the 2012 iHeartRadio Festival, when the vocalist threw a punk rock bitch fit after being told they had one minute left on stage.

Later that day, Pretty Lights (Derek Smith) announced that he had to cancel his Tuesday night show because of Hurricane Sandy. From his tweet, it sounds like the show will be rescheduled relatively soon.

Looking at the grand scheme of things, this whole concert rescheduling scenario could have been a lot worse. Green Day was forced to cancel the remainder of their 2012 shows and only postpone their January and February Dates. Plus, from the look at the Pretty Lights tweet above, as well as his upcoming list of tour dates, there is a possibility that Pretty Lights may reschedule his show before the end of the school year.

Bernie Punt, Director of Marketing at the Bryce Jordan Center, appeared to have summed up his feelings from Monday with the following tweet.
