Board of Trustees Nominations Now Open

Nominations for the three alumni seats up for grabs in this year’s Board of Trustees election began yesterday. Trustees Paul Suhey and Stephnie Deviney are both up for reelection, while the third seat is still vacant from Steve Garban‘s resignation in July.

Alumni can request a nomination ballot by sending an e-mail to BOT@psu.edu, including the following information:

  • complete name at time of graduation (maiden name included)
  • year of graduation
  • college and major
  • current e-mail address (where you would like to receive ballots)
  • mailing address

Alumni who receive over 50 nominations by February 25 are eligible to be on the ballot.

Students are, unfortunately, unable to vote for or nominate candidates, but it should be another interesting year for BoT elections. With a crowded field last year that included high-profile candidates like Adam Taliaferro, another unsettling year in Penn State leadership is sure to lead to another high-interest year in the Board of Trustees election. Deviney has already announced her intention to run for reelection, but it will likely be tough waters for incumbents in the current climate of the Board of Trustees.

The actual Board of Trustees election will take place later in April.

Who would you like to see on the BoT?

Hometown Brewery Releases Beer Honoring Evan Pugh

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
