America’s Got Talent LIVE! Tour Canceled

(UPDATE: January 23)

Bernie Punt announced earlier this morning on his Twitter that the tour has been canceled.

All of your reality TV dreams are about to come true right here at Penn State.

On March 13th, contestants from America’s Got Talent will take the stage at the Bryce Jordan Center. “The All-Stars Tour” will include the most popular acts from the last two seasons of America’s favorite talent show and will be MC’d by none other than Jerry Springer.

If you’re unfamiliar with the craziness that is America’s Got Talent, here’s a little background.

Based off the British version, “Britain’s Got Talent,” executive producer Simon Cowell (yes — the same guy we all love to hate from American Idol) decided Americans should have the opportunity to showcase their talents too. Debuting back in the summer of 2006, America’s Got Talent worked its way to become NBC’s top-rated summer series.

The show allows pretty much anyone to grace the stage and show off what they believe is their special talent. Singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, and other performers of all ages compete for the top prize of one million dollars and a show as the headliner on the Las Vegas Strip.

The judges Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mendel, Howard Stern, and host Nick Cannon have also had the pleasure of witnessing acts ranging from singing drag queens to body contortionists to a man/woman dressed as a flesh-colored blob riding a stationary unicycle shooting unknown objects out of its mouth. Needless to say, this show has been known to get a little strange.

This past season, “Olate Dogs” stole the show with their “high-energy, fast-paced dog act.” Tom Cotter, a stand-up comedian from Rhode Island, was runner-up.

Luckily for us, we don’t need to travel all the way to Las Vegas to witness these acts first hand. The BJC is bringing the intensity to us.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26th. A full line-up of acts hasn’t been released, but here’s a preview of some pretty cute dogs who are now millionaires.
