Penn State Ranks High in “Sugar Daddy” Influence

Ever heard of the term Sugar Daddy? You know, when a rich, older man smothers a young, attractive woman with luxurious gifts in return for her “love”?

A new study has rated Penn State as number 12 on the top 20 list of fastest growing “Sugar Baby” schools according to SeekingArrangement.com, a website created for individuals seeking mutual beneficial relationships.

The company simply states that they provide “matchmaking personals for successful and wealthy benefactors, and attractive guys and girls.” Is this real?

Basically, the site goes into fine detail about this “mutual beneficial relationship” describing the three different roles applicable. But before you think of signing up ladies and gentleman, know that you are required to possess either a quality of “beauty or generosity.” Read below and educate yourself on the three distinct “sugar” types.

This recent ad found in State College’s craigslist clearly depicts a Sugar Daddy on the hunt for his rightful Sugar Baby, with the subject of the advertisement being “spoil.”

Looks enticing, right?

The real problem that needs to be addressed here is that a significant number of women, especially in the state of Pennsylvania, are currently utilizing this website for financial aid purposes.

According to founder of SeekingArrangements.com, Brandon Wade, 121 Penn State students have joined the website in the last year for a total of 237 Penn State student members.

What exactly are these college students doing in exchange for certain financial services? According to a Huffington Post article, a young woman attending Hunter College had resorted to sex.

In a way, the website is pushing young women who are swamped in student loans, or even debt, into becoming “trophy wives” or prostitutes.

How is this ethical in any way?

Exhibited in popular shows today like Catfish, most people are aware of the dangers of online communication with strangers. What happens when a student goes to meet their Sugar Daddy downtown and he turns out to be an 80-year-old man with a grimy mustache looking for sexual favors?

Not such a smart idea after all…

Yes, 237 students doesn’t seem like a significant percentage of the 36,000 who attend Penn State, but the fact that nationally there was a 58 percent growth last year in female students using the website indicates this is an alarming trend.

Georgia State University takes the number one spot for fastest growing Sugar Baby schools, immediately followed by New York University and Temple University.
