Got Spirit? THON says YES

The people at this year’s THON are colorful. Very, very colorful. Here’s your chance to see some of the groups that went all out to show their THON spirit. Unfortunately, the Bryce Jordan Center is a huge place and I couldn’t document all of the weird stuff that’s going on—there is a LOT of weird stuff going on.

Here, in no particular order, are some of our favorites:

Blue White Society

May the force be with you! The Blue White Society came prepared with a whole arsenal of light sabers. Thankfully they’re all blue—we don’t have to worry about any Sith Lords taking over THON this year. Still, I wouldn’t want to sit next to these guys!

Pillar

Dyed hair, mardi gras beads, GLITTER! What’s not to love?

GAMMACACIA

Mitchell Wilston

Gamma Phi and Acacia teamed up with letters, matching shirts, “not-so-terrible towels”, and their dancers faces printed out onto signs. I’m sure they appreciate that.

Check out the signs! Check out the tutus! I’m told they were going to have several live horses as props before security turned them down. Too bad.

Alpha Kappa Psi

Look, if you bring a giant inflatable whale to THON, you’re probably going to get your picture taken. These guys were thinking ahead. What their group lacked in size and enthusiasm, they made up for in giant inflatable whales.

Sigma Delta Tau

Water Polo

With signs, tie dye shirts, inflatables, Hawaiian leis, and zinc oxide to protect from THON’s flashing lights, Water Polo came prepared.

Big letters. Matching shirts. Dancers heads stuck on spikes. Well done, FOTO.

Boulevard
Boulevard
Boulevard took the typical letter signs and ADDED LIGHTS! Innovation at its finest—but it really stinks for whoever has to buy enough batteries to last through THON.
Delta Chi and Kappa Kappa Gamma

What they lacked in letter organization, they made up in color coordination. Is that an M or a W?
Penn State Mont Alto

Mont Alto made the trip to THON with giant glow sticks and a ton of THON spirit. Commonwealth campuses represent!
Alpha Chi Omega and Pi Kappa Pi

Nice letters! Carefully constructed and painted.
Atlas

They brought a LOT of signs, but definitely have enough spirit to pull it off.
Do you think your group has spirit that I missed? Hit me up on Twitter (@mitchellwilston) and I’ll do my best to track you down!
