Nick Scott Commits to Penn State

Penn State’s 2014 recruiting class grew from one player to two over the weekend as Nick Scott, an athlete from Fairfax, Virginia, gave a verbal commitment to Bill O’Brien and the Nittany Lions with news of the commitment first reported by Ryan Snyder of Blue-White Illustrated Saturday afternoon.

Scott, listed at 5-11 180 lbs., is not yet rated in recruiting system databases, but Boston College had already made him an offer and schools including Alabama and West Virginia had been showing some interest.

The versatile athlete from Fairfax High School likely projects as a running back or slot receiver at the collegiate level and has impressive speed, with Rivals listing his 40-time at 4.5 seconds.

Although National Signing Day for the 2013 class was only a few weeks ago, programs hit the ground running on next year’ recruiting efforts with the Nittany Lions hosting their Junior Day this past Saturday. For reference, the Nittany Lions received their first commitments for 2013 on February 29, 2012 when Chrisitan Hackenberg and Ross Douglas came aboard (although Douglas would ultimately end up at Michigan).

Scott joins Mark Allen, a running back from DeMatha High School in Maryland who committed in October, as the two players are currently in the fold for 2014. A highlight video can be found below.
