CDT: Football Team Switching Physicians

According to a report by the Centre Daily Times, Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli will leave his position as head physician for the Penn State Football team, a spot he held since 1992, effective tomorrow.

Assuming Sebastianelli’s important role will be Peter Seidenberg, an associate professor of orthopedics and a primary care sports medicine physician for Penn State Hershey’s orthopedic practice. Scott Lynch, an associate professor of orthopedics and director of orthopedics sports medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center will be the orthopedic consultant for the football program.

Sebastianelli will continue to provide care to Penn State athletes, but his exact roles with specific teams at this moment is unclear.

This news is the second structural change within the football program today. Earlier this morning, it was announced that Fran Ganter, a former player, assistant coach under Joe Paterno, and administrator would be retiring as of tomorrow.
