According to multiple reports, James Sharer, a 19-year-old Penn State student, has been charged with criminal trespassing following an incident early Sunday morning.

According to the State College Police report, Sharer entered the home looking for a place to sleep. After being discovered, the resident repeatedly asked Sharer to leave and then fired two warning shots causing Sharer to run from the home where he was found by police, according to the reports.

Sharer is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol when he entered the residence. According to the Centre Daily Times, “Sharer also faces summary offenses of public drunkenness and purchasing alcohol as a minor.”

Correction: Sharer was being held on $25,000 bail. The reports yesterday stated that he was still being held however that is no longer the case. We apologize for the error. His preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
