Updated: Police Apprehended Man Who Made Threat in the HUB

A Penn State text alert that went out shortly after noon indicates police are searching for a man who made an “indirect threat” in the HUB.

Penn State’s press release:

University Police are searching for a dark-skinned male, who appeared to be a vagrant, and was last seen at 11:10 a.m. sleeping in the HUB-Robeson Center on campus. The college-age man, dressed in blue jeans, dark shoes and a gray coat, was asked to leave the premises and was then overheard by passersby saying he planned to obtain a gun and ‘shoot people.”

He is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with an athletic build. Police ask that anyone who may see this individual on campus, call 911 or 814-863-1111.

UPDATE 3:50 p.m. – Police have apprehended the suspect, according to a Penn State release. He will be charged with one count of terroristic threats and two counts of disorderly conduct.

University Police have apprehended the man who allegedly made threats today (April 17) in the HUB-Robeson Center on campus. The man, whose address is not known, reportedly said he planned to obtain a gun and “shoot people” after police told him he could not sleep in the HUB. He was arrested in downtown State College following a police search for his whereabouts. He is currently in police custody and will be charged with one count of terroristic threats and two counts of disorderly conduct for striking parked vehicles with a stick. The man is expected to be brought before a district justice later today for a preliminary arraignment.
