2013 Frat Row Criterium

It’s early Sunday morning after the final Saturday night of Penn State’s Spring semester. On frat row one would expect to see all the walk-of-shamers making their way back one more time before the summer; but instead something quite different is happening.

Scores of cyclists have lined up behind the start line ready to participate in Penn State’s Frat Row Criterium 2013, a 1K, 6-turn race around frat row.

The course is detailed to start at Locust Lane and E. Fairmount Avenue. From there, the route continues west on E. Fairmount Avenue, making a left turn on Fraternity Row, a left on E. Foster Avenue, left on Locust Lane, right on E. Nittany Avenue. The two final turns are a left on Pugh Street, and a left on to E. Fairmount Avenue.

A registration table can be found on Locust Lane between E. Nittany Avenue and E. Foster Avenue. The race is $15 if you pre-register and $20 if you register the day of.

According to accuweather.com, there is currently a 25% chance of rain with a high of 68.

The first race, the Men’s D1 race, is set to go off at 8:30 a.m.. Races will follow every 30 minutes.

According to the Facebook page, parking is available along the side streets, and friends, signs, and beverages are encouraged.
