Former Basketball Standout Jones Joins Coaching Staff

A familiar face will be pacing the sidelines for the Nittany Lions next year, as former Penn State big man Andrew Jones will join Pat Chambers’ staff as a graduate assistant, per GoPSUSports.

You may remember Jones as a member of the 2008-09 NIT winning squad when he averaged 10 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in the tournament, as well as the 2010-11 team that made it to the NCAA Tournament.

Jones spent five years in Happy Valley, redshirting his freshman season in 2006-07 and playing in all 134 games from there on in, starting in 117. For his career, averaged 5.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game on 54.6 percent shooting, which is the second highest field goal percentage in Penn State history.

Prior to returning to Penn State, Jones played professionally overseas for two years in Slovakia, Ukraine and Greece.

Jones will be joining the team as he pursues a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. While in school, Jones double majored in recreation, park and tourism management, along with labor and employment relations.
