Liquor Control Board Suspends G-Man’s Liquor License

The Penn State bros are in mourning today.

After being open all weekend for Arts Fest, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has suspended the Gingerbread Man’s liquor license for liquor law violations. The license owned by “Hat Trick Group Inc.” is listed as inactive in the Liquor Control Board’s database and a sign is posted on the door letting patrons know about the suspension.

G-Man has been fined eight times for liquor law violations since 2009, however only one of those violations actually had to do with alcohol (minors law violation). Six violations were for excessive noise and the other was for not not properly registering a beer pongĀ tournamentĀ (TFM?). No recent liquor law violations have been posted to the database and it is not immediately clear what prompted this suspension or how long it will last. The bar was open as recently as Saturday.

G-Man is traditionally closed on Mondays and no one was at the establishment to comment. Calls to the owners of G-Man were not immediately returned. We’ll update this post when we have more information.

UPDATE (7/16): G-Man posted the following statement on Facebook, indicating that it hopes to open up again in August.

“To all my G-man friends Thank you for all your continued support. The G-Man will be closed for the next few weeks. We will open again in early August and we will have NEW Menu, New Management, New Specials, and New ownership in process. We are very excited to bring back the old tradition of the G-man as a great restaurant, that happens to be a great bar! We are extremely excited about the future of the G-man so we hope you will be there to support us as we move forward. Thanks”

Hometown Brewery Releases Beer Honoring Evan Pugh

Penn State’s first president Evan Pugh was born in 1828 at Jordan Bank Farm, three miles south of the city center of Oxford, Pennsylvania, an hour west of Philadelphia in Chester County. One-hundred eighty-nine years later, an Oxford brewery is honoring one of the preeminent champions of “liberal and practical” higher education in the form of a delicious Porter.
