DaQuan Jones Named No.1 Senior Defensive Tackle
Penn State defensive tackle DaQuan Jones has been named the top senior at this position heading into the 2013 season by NFL.com writer Gil Brandt.
Lining up in the one-technique last season, Jones finished with 22 tackles — including two for a loss — half a sack and a fumble recovery.
“The play of the 6-foot-3 1/2, 330-pound Jones was a big reason why the Nittany Lions won eight games during the 2012 season. He is a strong player with good speed (5.15 seconds in the 40-yard dash) for the position,” wrote Brandt.
Jones will be the big man in the middle this season after playing supporting roles to current NFLers Devon Still and Jordan Hill the past three seasons.
Jones is ranked as the ninth best defensive tackle in the nation and is projected as a third round pick in the 2014 NFL draft by CBSSports.com.
