If you missed out on the whole wear-a-floral-headband-and-go-to-a-music-festival thing this summer, fear not! ThirdPlace, a community service organization for young adults, is hosting a family friendly, alcohol-free outdoor concert this Saturday at Harvest Fields in Boalsburg. The event, called BENEFEST, is free but donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Center County are definitely encouraged.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters program pairs at-risk youth with adult mentors. The idea is that the one-on-one time will give the children a positive direction. According to the event page, there are currently 80-100 children aged 5-17 still in need of a Big Brother or Big Sister. The site also notes that children involved in the program are 46 percent less likely to use drugs.

BENEFEST will go down this Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1100 East Boalsburg Avenue to support a great cause. Enjoy a variety of local artists including Pure Cane Sugar (Americana), JB5-3 (Low Voltage Rock ‘n’ Roll), Riley Roth (Pop-Country), and Eric Farmer (singer/song-writer).
