100 Years of Marathon Reading Set For Thursday

Do you like books? How much do you like books? Do you love them?

If you think you like books a whole lot, check out the College of the Liberal Art’s “Marathon Reading” event this Thursday to put your love to the test.

This year’s Marathon Reading will feature Nobel Prize winning novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, written by the one and only Gabriel García Márquez.

Here is how it works: anyone who wants to read aloud or just listen to a world renowned literary classic should come to the Pattee/Paterno library lawn, starting at 1 p.m. this Thursday. The end time? Well, the marathon will end when the book is finished, presumably Friday morning. I repeat, this is a book-lovers sleep-over extravaganza! Don’t pretend you didn’t stay up all night reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. (But seriously, where my Lit majors at?)

Overnight attendees are encouraged to bring sleeping bags and pillows. Also, as an added perk, free pizza will be served Thursday night with coffee, orange juice and doughnuts to follow Friday morning.

Last year’s reading — Catch-22 — saw visits from “celebrity readers” like Sue Paterno, Russ Rose, the basketball team, and others. You never know who could show up!
