Homecoming’s Color Run Takes Over Penn State
If you were in State College yesterday afternoon, you probably noticed thousands of folks running around campus or trudging around downtown drenched in powder or sporting colorful T-shirts. What you witnessed was the aftermath of The Color Run at Penn State, an event organized in part by Homecoming for the first time in State College.
An incredible 10,000 participants bought out the ticket allotment for the “happiest 5k on the planet.” The race started at Medlar Field and followed Porter Road to Hastings Road to Pollock Road to Curtin Road and back to Medlar. In other words, right through the middle of campus.
Participants raced through campus in waves of 1,000 while being doused with pink, blue, orange, and yellow colors, creating an otherwordly scene. The first runners finished the race in just about 25 minutes, but whether you walked or ran, a good time was had by all.
