JuCo Defensive Tackle Tarow Barney Commits to Penn State
Penn State football got some good news one day after the team fell to Nebraska, as four-star junior college defensive tackle Tarow Barney committed to play for the Nittany Lions.

The Mississippi native is the 16th recruit for the class of 2014 and the team’s second defensive tackle commit, joining Antoine White. He is also the first player to commit since linebacker Jason Cabinda last month.
Barney stands 6’3″ and weighs 285 lbs. According to 24/7, Barney is the 19th best junior college recruit in America and the 3rd best junior college defensive tackle prospect. Along with Penn State, Barney held offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa State, and Kansas State, and attracted interest from Alabama.
In nine games this year for Northwest Mississippi Community College, Barney has racked up 36 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. He also had 20 tackles as a freshman.
Barney will likely be an immediate contributor, as starting defensive tackles Kyle Baublitz and DaQuan Jones are both leaving the program after this season.
