Credit Card Company Sues Joe Amendola For Back Payments

A major credit card company has filed a debt collection lawsuit against a local high-profile attorney, according to court records.

Demetrios Tsarouhis, an attorney for American Express, filed paperwork Monday at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte that accuses local attorney Joe Amendola of failing to make payments of more than $25,000 on a credit card.

Amendola was the defense attorney for Jerry Sandusky, and has served on many other high-profile cases in the area. He was also the attorney for former Penn State football player Austin Scott, who was accused of rape. Those charges were later dropped.

The lawsuit states that Amendola repeatedly failed to make payments as they became due. The company is asking for the amount owed and costs related to the lawsuit.

Amendola could not immediately be reached for comment.
