Farewell to Fresh Harvest

All seemed normal when I returned to Happy Valley to begin the spring semester, but little did I know, one of my favorite eateries had met its fate. Located at 421 East Beaver Ave., nestled between Center Court and University Towers, Fresh Harvest Kafé it was in prime location and had developed a sort of cult following in recent years.

Fresh Harvest fulfilled the typical college student’s need for a good old-fashioned sandwich by serving a wide variety of wraps, paninis, flatbreads, pitas, soups and salads, all with fresh ingredients. My personal favorite was the Avocado and Chicken Panini and as a lover of all things avocado, I was a rather frequent customer. With only one stamp away from a free sandwich on my rewards card, the news of its closing hits pretty close to home.

No reason was indicated for the sudden closure and a request for comment from a store representative was not immediately returned. I for one will personally miss Fresh Harvest Kafé and hope that it resurrects as Grillers has in the past.
